Hi,
I find the idea of a book quite exciting too and I would be interested in being involved if anyone else plans to go
ahead with this idea.
However I think that we should not forget the "essential of webtest", i.e. the program and the web site before spending
too much time on a book. It would be even more essential if a book comes to live (what to do with an excellent book if
readers get disappointed at their first look at the program or the web site?).
Particularly, I think that following points should be addressed:
- update/improve the documentation
- add bug tracker tool (Kay's argumentation is very good, I don't need to say more)
- add/update steps to plainly use the now quite good javascript support
- have a clean structure of the code
- have a change history (the one of htmlunit http://htmlunit.sourceforge.net/changes-report.html would be a good example)
(and I surely forget other points)
These are not stoppers for starting writing a book but I think that they should be fixed before publishing it.
What is about articles already written about webtest? Dierk, do you own the rights of the article you wrote (in German)
for iX? Can it be presented/linked on webtest website?
Marc.
