Well, I tried the search field on the www.apache.org, and the result  
page was 'This site is offline for the weekend while we do  
maintenance'. My mistake obviously.

It's the name of a parser setting described at:
<http://cvs.apache.org/~andyc/neko/doc/html/settings.html#notify- 
builtin-html-refs>
As I understand, it would tell the parser not to transform entities.
